DUST SUPPRESSANTS & STABILIZERS
DUST SUPPRESSANTS & STABILIZERS
Did you know that when a vehicle drives on a dusty road once a day for 365 days a year, that vehicle can displace more than 1 Ton (2,000 lbs.) of dust up to 400 yards on each side of the road? Now, everyone should understand how road materials and gravel seem to just disappear form the road! Look at the sides of your roads and see your lost road material.
Texas Road and Sign Supply's sister company, The Road Doctors, manufactures, supplies, and applies a full line of dust suppressants and dust stabilizers including D.C. Concentrate, Formula X Plus and Formula XX. Our line of dust suppressants and stabilizers are applied to dirt and gravel roads throughout Texas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. Our products are made from materials that have been used by the US Forestry Service and other county governments across the USA for more than 75 years.

OUR GOAL
To provide Counties, Cities, Schools, Oil Companies and Industrial Facilities with the products to make unimproved roads, gravel roads, haul roads, drilling pads, and construction areas drivable during wet conditions and less dusty in dry conditions! We're proud to serve our dust suppressants and stabilizers throughout Texas, Arkansas and Oklahoma.
Plus, a product that allows the road to be repaired, reworked and or graded without destroying the effectiveness of the Stabilizer & Dust Control qualities.
Our dust suppressant chemical products work on Gravel, Caliche, Limestone, Oil, Sand, Native Dirt, Millings, ground up Chip Seal Roads, Gray Rock and other Road Materials.
WHY WE'RE DIFFERENT
THE FACTS
Gravel costs an average of $9.00 per ton in many parts of the country, excluding freight. Using this price and applying around 6” of gravel on a 20-21 ft. wide road, you would need approximately 2,000 cubic yards of gravel. That would cost you a minimum of $18,000 plus freight. That just to apply that on only one mile of road. Just think, Single Course Chip Seal Road is more than $50,000 per mile!
We can S-t-r-e-t-c-h your road budget by giving you an opportunity to do more roads and spend less of your budget on road materials. Call the Commissioners
listed below and ask their opinion about our products and how during the rainy seasons, the roads that had our products survived without rutting and falling apart.
BENEFITS OF DUST SUPPRESSANTS AND STABALIZERS
*Increased load-bearing capacity
*Firmer road surface without loose gravel
*Dust abatement
*Cost-savings in both construction and maintenance
*Reduces the amount of gravel needed in construction
*Road projects and engineering studies have shown that
our solutions reduce replacement costs of gravel and
other materials up to 80%
Our dust suppressant products absorb water vapor from the air and liquid water from the
road bed. Our solutions attract more moisture to the road than they give
up in evaporation. The road remains dense and compact under almost any
level of traffic and our solutions help keep the materials on the road by keeping
moisture in the road base. Therefore, there will be significantly less dust.
The moisture retained keeps the surface plastic enough so fines can migrate
into gaps formed between aggregates under the varying pressure of car and
truck traffic.
The base will repel excessive moisture and will help prevent rutting during
wet conditions
.
Listed below are the ingredients in our product line of Dust Suppressants/Stabilizers and reasons as to why we utilize them.
TREE SAP SOLUTIONS
Tree Sap is the glue that holds rings together in trees. DC Concentrate has been used for 75 years to control dust and stabilize gravel on unpaved roads. For stabilization and dust control, it's better to mix it with the top 6-8” inches of road surface. It's water soluble, environmentally friendly, easy to handle and apply, and very cost-effective.
Benefits Include:
*Increased load-bearing capacity, (Like a 3-inch layer of asphalt concrete) *Firmer road surface without loose gravel *Dust abatement, *Cost-savings in both construction and maintenance. The surface can still develop potholes, and you'll need to scrape off and remix the top layer with water and repack the surface. Our product allows you to do this without harming the
effectiveness of the product. But by all accounts, maintenance procedures can be significantly reduced!!!
DESICCANTS
Desiccant solutions absorb water vapor from the air and liquid water from the road bed. Desiccants solutions attract more moisture to the road than they give up in evaporation. The road remains dense and compact under almost any level of traffic because magnesium and calcium chloride solutions help keep the materials on the road by keeping moisture in the road base therefore, significantly less dust. The moisture retained keeps the surface plastic enough so fines can migrate into gaps formed between aggregates under the varying pressure of car and truck traffic.
Benefits Include:
*Reduces the amount of gravel needed in construction and maintenance. *Extends the service life of the gravel-wearing course, decreasing blading and shaping. Road Projects and Engineering studies have shown that Magnesium and Calcium Chloride Solutions reduce replacement costs of gravel and other materials up to 80% and cuts grading costs by as much as 50%!!

TESTIMONALS
"I’m Donald Shuffield, Commissioner of Milam County Precinct #2. I took office in
January of 2015. Spring of that year, I met Larry Settle and he introduced a product to
me called “D.C. CONCENTRATE”, which is used for stabilizing the base on gravel
roads and controlling dust. So, I applied D.C. CONCENTRATE to about 2 miles of
gravel road. I found out you had to go step by step in the application process or you
might not get the performance that the product is designed to do. I was very pleased
with the results. D.C. Concentrate tighten the road base and controlled the dust. We
applied the D. C. Concentrate on 9 more miles of roads. We talked about how the
product should last one to two years and it has lasted more than 2 years, even with a lot
of rain, I am very pleased.
Larry came to me and introduced a different product, Formula X Plus and Formula XX.
Formula X Plus is a good step better than the D. C. Concentrate. The Formula X-Plus
will do better for the lifetime of the product for the road. Formula X Plus does very well
on Dust Control and extremely well on bonding the road materials together. When we
applied the product in the morning, worked it in and packed the surface it looked great
and by late afternoon it was hard. I applied Formula X Plus on a Gravel Pit road that is
traveled everyday by 200 trucks going to the pit, loading and leaving the pit loaded. We
did this road 4 months ago and the road looks like it did when we first applied the
product. For areas like this I put a truck load on ½ of a mile, on normal traffic roads a
truck load of Formula X Plus will do at least a mile of road. This product should last me
up to a 5-year timeline.
Give Larry a call, he will treat you right. Tell him I sent you. If you have any questions
call, Donald Shuffield @ 254-697-1018"
-Donald Shuffield, Commissioner of Milam County, Precict #2
"After taking office on January 1, 2017, I began to notice that the precinct
roads had layer after layer of material already on most of them. I began to search
for some type of road stabilizer, so I could grind up the existing layers, mix in the
stabilizer and lay them back down. In July, I settled on the DB/RJ Formula X Plus
after experimentation with it on a mile of road. Since then, I have about seven
miles of good hard road, that handle heavy loads (logging and chicken feed
trucks). How long will it last? The jury is still out on that one. All I can say is we
haven’t had any type of maintenance on what we have done so far, except
installing speed limit signs.
Hope this give you some ideal of what we are doing to try and keep our
road repair cost down."
-Charles Barr, Commissioner of Shelby County, TX Precinct #3
"As a county commissioner, I am always in search
of a solution to better rural roads at a more
economical cost. Chip seal and asphalt are not an
option on my limited budget. I have found the
answer with D.C. Concentrate, a road stabilizer
and dust suppression product that works wonders
in solving the problem. D.C Concentrate
stabilizes into a hard, durable road surface and
minimizes the dust that results from the minimal
wear of that surface. I would recommend D.C.
Concentrate to any one responsible for building
and maintaining rural roads. The results far
outweigh the cost."
